The project involved renovating a 20 year old residence for Mrs. Jasmine & Family. The existing house was with small rooms and smaller openings with hardly any light entering the inner core of the residence and not much of cross ventilation. The most inspiring and challenging part of this renovation work were to reuse the existing furniture’s to the maximum and were to definitely match with the new makeover. The reused furniture and joinery include the main door, the crockery shelf, dining table etc. Similarly the kitchen cabinets where made by reusing the old teak wood frames from the demolished kitchen cabinets. Care was taken to maintain the beautiful marble flooring and to provide other flooring materials that would complement the existing ones.

Their requirement for more space in the interior was dealt up with a proposal we had put forth which was to knock down the existing car porch and extend the dining area ensuring more light into the core of the residence. These changes where followed by the switching of existing bedroom and living room to give them a direct view from the main gate which eventually developed a full length veranda. This veranda was brightened by adding a double height area which is panelled with shera planks taking it over to ceiling. The makeover for this residence welcomed more light and air. The new porch was designed to hold up a lighted walkway to the home along with parking for two cars.

The renovation of this home was planned to be completed stage wise. Stage 1 being the major completion of civil works, is through. Next stage of renovation will be the remodelling of interiors, though kitchen and toilets were completed along with stage 1.
