Modernism at the barricades :THE SHIP OF DREAMS

The residence was designed for Mr. Jim & Family, a man from business family with whole lot of inclination towards art and technology, who always longed to add new definitions for his home. Our relationship with Mr. Jim has begun with projects which include the interiors for their hotel group “ARCADIA” and has warmed up ever since. This being his dream project, we are happy to have extended the foundations for a long and enduring relation. The design process did take us through a whole lot of concepts starting with an ultra modern concept, moving to a complete traditional one and finally winding up with modern techniques holding up to traditional values. The residence design was influenced by the shape of a cruise. The site being surrounded with rubber plantations on its sides overlooking to the paddy fields that stretches out on the front brings up the leisure and pleasure of this house.

It is designed in two sectors, which is divided around a pool. The centre focus of design was to provide maximum views for the rooms of both these sectors, with priority for the bedrooms. On one side they had the main residence area with a prayer, formal living, bedrooms, dinning, kitchen, a gym and a TV room and games zone for kids. This main area was adjoined by their guest house. The guest accommodation, open bath as well party area is arranged along the corridor in this second segment. This area is also intended for spending quality time with family. Dining area overlooks the pool and with the partition in between which if removed acts as an extended space for parties. The wide open terrace holds up space for solar panels and a wide uninterrupted space for holding family functions. The site holds up a steady contour which enabled the provision of garage in the lower level with a double access from the upper as well as ground. The residence is designed with a single floor incorporating all the amenities.
