A spacious, airy and well ventilated house was on the priority of their requirement list as being a renovation project. The 1500 sqft cluttered old home which was 15years old needed a proper expansion program and reorientation in many aspects. We were approached with this project when the structural works were half way through. This was the major issue we had to look into, as the major structure works regarding space planning was erected leaving us very few options to develop a functional interior for the client. But the thorough cooperation & understanding from the client made our task simple.

The advantage of this plot was its “C” shape which helped us in providing two separate entries for the residence. But the disadvantage of the same was a residential building situated in the centre of the “C” which blocked the full length view of the residence. These were the two key factors that helped in the development of elevation. The residence hosted views from both rear and front. So they were treated with equal importance. The front entry leads to a wide sit out which diverts to a narrow veranda and enters the formal living. The rear entry has a rear sit out and enters to family living room which will also act as guest bedroom. Rear entry also has a segregated access to work area and utility space.

The interior unfolds into a simple form and planning. The formal living is a compact small space enhanced with a double height area and a stone clad wall. The formal living space also holds a prayer area positioned so as to get a direct view a space while entering the from the main door. The attic space formed due to the development of additional roof also holds space for overhead water tank and storage area. The family living in the ground floor is provided as a multifunctional room with a foldable bed and attached toilet. The dining room has been positioned to provide some privacy and overlooks the staircase. First floor host 3 bedrooms and a TV room along with common and private balconies. The customised light fixture again is a complimenting feature for this elegant interior.
