Designed for Mr. Sailya Ghosh and family, this residence has so many things to be in our special list. This is the first residence project we had done, as we had been concentrating more on commercial, retail and hospitality till then. Designing a home for our dear friend always puts this residence in our special list. As we knew him in personnel we were very sure he was not at all interested in exhibiting or showing off his residence. This lead us in opting for a minimalistic design concept and the site orientation itself made it possible. The design process was guided and routed by one of his prime requirement of having maximum ventilation and natural light inside the house. The site had the advantage of being in close proximity to the town but also had an advantage of calmness that reminded us of a remote village in some interiors of Kerala. Similarly the plot was also having quite an impressive natural landscape of its own. The prime concern was to develop plan so as to keep maximum existing trees.

The residence is planned in two levels i.e. all rooms other than the living area are at a higher level. From living room we step up to a raised double height area with dining, pooja, kitchen & work area along with master bedroom and other common facilities. The interior is designed only with essentials, the curios wall being the centre of attraction. The double height area in the dining brings in maximum day light to the interiors. The kitchen is so designed to give a direct view to the main gate and sit out area. In the exterior the kitchen wall and sit out is separated with a courtyard which has natural stone cladding. This keeps it unified as well as gives definition to the elevation of the residence. The first floor is designed with a family living and a work space which has a direct view to the living and dining in the ground floor.  First floor also accommodates a bedroom and has a rear terrace.

The elevation features are highlighted with horizontal grooves following the same in texture patterns, handrail designs, partitions both in the interior as well as exterior. Throughout the house the richness of natural light and ventilation can be felt. Simple design features are being implemented in the design of the house enabling, the whole project to stick to the planned budget. With a much appreciable setback from the main road and shaded with a lush greenery, this house truly gives him and his family the privacy and peace of mind they longed for.
