Nestled along the tranquil shores of Vembanad Lake, this weekend retreat was envisioned as a restorative sanctuary for Dr. Rajesh—a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon—and his wife, a leading professional in the IT sector. With demanding careers that leave little room for pause, the couple sought a space that could serve as both a physical and emotional escape. A place to breathe deeply, unwind fully, and reconnect with nature and family.

The architectural response is rooted in this intent. The home is strategically positioned to one side of the site, allowing the rest of the plot to open up towards the lake. This placement not only frames expansive views of the water but also ensures privacy, cross-ventilation, and a seamless connection between built form and the natural landscape.

Open planning defines the spatial experience—interiors are intentionally minimal yet warm, allowing light, air, and lake reflections to become active elements in the home’s daily rhythm. Large openings blur boundaries between inside and out, turning verandahs, decks, and courtyards into natural extensions of the interior living spaces.

The first floor was carefully elevated and oriented to maximize uninterrupted lake views, offering the family an immersive sense of calm and perspective.
